This year marks 25 years of Quaker Voluntary Action (QVA) retreats, but we are aware that not everybody knows about us. So, in May, we sent a letter and information to every Local Quaker Meeting (LM) in Britain to introduce ourselves and tell Friends about the different ways they can get involved with QVA.
We hope our letter was well received and your LM now knows more about who we are, what we do, and how Friends can get involved with our work to maintain and develop the tradition of Quaker volunteering. We’re really grateful to everyone who mentioned our letter in Notices, or shared it in your own newsletter.
If you have any feedback or questions we’d love to hear from you. You can email Suzie, our Communications Manager, by clicking the button below:
There’s a catch! We were only able to send the letter to LMs with a Meeting House, due to data protection rules. So, if your LM or worshipping group rents premises, or meets in someone’s home, you won’t have received our information.
However, we’d still love to be in touch with your community! If you’d like an easy way to tell Friends about QVA, we can send you the letter and an attractive flyer to share with Friends. You don’t need to be the Clerk of your Meeting, just someone who wants to share QVA opportunities with Friends.
If your Meeting prefers to reduce its use of paper, click the links below to download the information as pdfs:
If you’d like a copy by post, click the button below to email Suzie. Don’t forget to mention the name of your Local Meeting, your full name and your own postal address.
We’d love to connect with as many Quaker groups as possible! We are a Quaker Recognised Body of Britain Yearly Meeting, and a charity registered in the UK. But our volunteering programme takes place not just in the UK, but also across the rest of Europe, and also in the Middle East. And what’s more, our retreats are open to adults from around the world (we can’t sponsor visa applications, but we would be happy to write a letter of introduction). So if you’re a Quaker group but you’re not in Britain and you’d like to read and share our information, you are very welcome to download it here:
We hope you find the information useful and inspiring! You are welcome to get in touch with us at any time about volunteering, making a donation, serving as a Trustee or working as a Facilitator. The best way to hear about opportunities with Quaker Voluntary Action is to subscribe to our newsletter.
